January 3, 2016 is our anniversary.  It was 22 years ago that our doors open to help people who are experiencing homeless.

Opportunity Center recognized by the University of Texas at El Paso for its Community Impact

On December 23, 2014, we had our Christmas dinner.  Through our shelters system, we fed 350 people experiencing homelessness.  We are extremely thankful to our donors, volunteers, and staff that helped to provide a wonderful meal.  What a wonderful way to end the year.

Feeding the Homeless

El Paso Times article, El Paso ISD food-donation program going well, posted November 27, 2014

The Opportunity Center would like to thank the El Paso Independent School District’s leadership team and Board of Managers for their gracious decision to donate leftover food from regional EPISD campuses to the Opportunity Center. This decision will help the Opportunity Center continue to provide over 10,000 nutritious meals a month to area homeless individuals. This innovative pilot program will benefit almost 400 people daily, as they work to regain their station in our community. Such a partnership is the cornerstone behind the continued success of the Opportunity Center and will allow us to advance our mission of caring for those who have no one else to care for them. We are grateful to all those who worked diligently to make this partnership a reality. We are confident that this partnership with the EPISD will continue to provide critical resources for our areas homeless population. Many Thanks!

On July 26, 2014, we had a great community event that helped the homeless.  It was our first 5K Run / 5K Fun Walk and Kids Dash.  It was an event that helped raise funds needed for our shelter and awareness about homelessness in our community.

We are extremely thankful to our sponsors, our event coordinators, Race Adventures Unlimited, and of course to the Southwest University Park.
